Having rocking horse plans makes building a rocking horse deceptively easy. If you feel comfortable with the plan or kit you have, than this should be a relatively simple task. This may seem like a hard thing to do, but patience is the key!  

Building your own toys and doing other do-it-yourself projects can be incredibly rewarding. In fact, these days it seems like everyone is doing more for themselves than ever before. While nearly every rocking horse plan comes with everything in the kit, you will need to supply your own tools. Otherwise, you’re going to want to use the exact parts they send. This will ensure that each part fits together perfectly. After all, using your own nuts and bolt would only waste the ones that came with the kit! 

You might be surprised to learn that you have many choices when it comes to a rocking horse plan. There are plenty of different designs, colors and even animals! Some of the more popular choices in wood are maple, pine, and cherry. These are common trees and each have a nice, unique color to them.  

Another thing to think about when picking a rocking horse design is if you want a horse at all. As far as building your own riding animal, the choices in animal can be limited to the tradition horse design. However, there are indeed other creatures to choose from including cows, sheep, pigs and even dinosaurs!
